In May of 2018 we had the chance to travel to Myanmar, a country that has intrigued us for a very long time. The minute we stepped inside the country we could feel it was such a special and unique place. The people of Myanmar are so welcoming, warm-hearted and loving. We were greeted with open arms wherever we went and truly cherished every interaction with the local people. The ancient city of Inwa (founded in 1365) used to be the capital city of Myanmar, but was hit by a massive earthquake in 1842 which damaged many of the buildings. Touring through this area we saw the remnants of what remained. Some buildings were still in great shape and still bring many local tourists. We continued our journey out to the magical town of Bagan. This area of Myanmar is lined with thousands of temples as far as the eyes can see and feels untouched by tourism. It truly is one of our favourite places on earth that we have visited. Visiting this small town felt like stepping back in time. Driving our scooters through the weaving red sand roads with no one around was a feeling that is truly indescribable. Myanmar holds a very special place in our hearts and we strongly encourage everyone to visit if possible!

February 6th, 2019 was already planned to be a special day as we were climbing our first ever volcano (Mount Bromo, Indonesia). However, little did Alison know, the day would turn out to be incredibly special for another reason. While walking atop the crater rim, hearing the deep rumble down below and stunning 360 landscape views, I got down on one knee and asked the love of my life to marry me. She was so shocked and couldn't believe it was really happening. After some tears of joy, a big "YES", and some kisses, Alison quickly said she needed to get off the volcano as she couldn't process both of these things happening at the same time. We feel so lucky to have found each other in this adventure called life and there is no one else we'd rather be beside. Thanks to our friends Jenny and Stu for capturing the moment and helping make this all happen!

While travelling through Thailand we were lucky enough to hear through the grapevine about this "Hidden Temple" (also known as Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Phrachomklao Rachanusorn) up in the mountains of Northern Thailand, where white stupas scatter across the mountain peaks in an unbelievable fashion.
It almost didn't sound real. but after doing some research we discovered how to get to this temple and decided to make the 3 hour scooter drive to try and find it. Once finding the bottom of the temple we took an extremely steep jeep ride up the mountain to the start of the hike. The mountain itself is covered in different variations of gongs that visitors should ring for good luck while climbing to the top. Needless to say, the day probably gave us good luck for the year.
When we finally reached the summit it was difficult to process what we were seeing. The stupas sitting atop the jagged mountain peaks were a sight neither of us had ever seen before and truly one of a kind. Some of the stupas had us scratching our heads as to how they were even constructed in the first place because they would be so difficult to access on foot.
This hidden gem is not a tourist destination yet and we were two of the few people on the mountain that day. It was peaceful, spiritual and a unique experience neither of us will forget. Definitely make a stop here if you find yourself in Northern Thailand!
